Our flagship product is Study Star, a combination electronic notebook, outliner, scheduler, flashcard program and guide to how to study and learn. Study Star improves learning by

• guiding students through efficient and productive study routines,
• teaching note-taking and outlining techniques,
• helping students maintain an active mind and sustain focus as they study,
• recognizing the value of the knowledge, feelings, experiences, and aspirations of the student, and helping the student connect new knowledge to what they already know,
• offering the student a variety of activities so that students can select the activities that they will enjoy and learn from,
• offering both activities that require sructured analytical thinking and activities that encourage unstructured imaginative thinking, so that more students can both do what they are good at and develop areas in which they are weak,
• encouraging repeated and extended exposure to study materials through enjoyable and challenging games.

We designed this program for students in the eighth grade and above whose academic competence is average or above average, but we have found that it also can work for others who have not had much success in school. For such school-aged students, however, we recommend significant involvement, help, and encouragement from a parent or tutor.
